I'll never figure kids out. You go to a restaurant and they order the same weirdo kid food that they can have at home. Then again, I don't think Jadon had a clue as to what was going on. He was so amphed up on birthday adrenaline I thought he had flubber in his back pocket. Going out to dinner is so much fun.
After taking Jadon to the bathroom three times our food came. (Excitement could replace prunes in 7 out of 10 cases). Flubber buns had a bite or two and then asked if we could go home and open is presents.
Our awesome waiter was informed we needed some birthday serenading like pronto. (A side-note: We did NOT take Noelle out to dinner for her birthday this year because she had a friend party. She is still touchy about it because "HOW WILL THE PEOPLE AT RED ROBIN KNOW THAT SHE IS FIVE IF THEY DIDN'T SING TO HER!" So, the singing is key here.)
Now, Red Robin is a pretty decent place to take kids. .99 cent Tuesdays? Awesome. Bottomless Macaroni and Cheese? We've never seen the bottom, but SWELL! Singing to kids on their birthday? Perfect. Lame brain idea to tie two balloons together and make the kid wear them? A just barely three-year-old? Let me tell you what happens next: Three-year-old takes balloon off of ears and watches as his beloved helium sidekick ascends to the ceiling with no remorse. Three-year-old falls into a puddle of his own mass produced tears. That, my friends, is what happens, and what did happen. Good job Red Robin. Better luck next time. (We did note about ten other birthday balloon aparati in various stages of decent near the ceiling. SO someone who works there not only has harebrained ideas, they also have no idea how to discard and revisit their creativity.
Back to our birthday boy. While staff went to get him a new balloon his dad ate his ice cream. Heartless? No, just trying not to be wasteful. Jadon clearly wasn't thinking about ice cream.
New balloons safely secured to his arm we stumbled out of Red Robin for the climax of the day. Present time....
* I don't really have the time or the amount of interest to figure out how to format these pictures better. Let's just be glad we have a rough draft up here.
